The band does not close. One end lifts into a whale tail faced in white inlay, the other into a round bead in pearl white, and the two sit facing each other across a narrow gap at the top of the finger. Worn on the middle or index finger the gap reads as part of the design rather than as a ring that is missing a piece.
Because the band is open it flexes: press the two ends gently together or apart and it holds its shape at anything from about a US 6 to a US 9. That is also why there is no size to choose at checkout - one ring adjusts across the range, and it can move between fingers as the seasons change your hands.
